Music Composer A R Rahman was at the popular Wembley stadium in London for a concert. The music composer was to perform his top hit songs at the concert when an unexpected thing happened at the concert. Few groups walked out from the concert after knowing that the list of songs had majorly Tamil songs and no Hindi songs composed by him. The audience expressed their displeasure over that and walked out from the stadium which was totally unexpected by the organisers.
After the incident was reported by the media, netizens trolled A.R.Rahman for including only Tamil songs and no Hindi songs in the list of songs he was to perform in front of the huge crowd. While few were in support of A.R.Rahman saying he was an Indian first and a Tamilian later, few netizens had a different thought.
It was a huge debate online after the incident at Wembley Stadium and became a hot topic soon. Singer and dubbing artist Chinmayi Sripada had a strong message for those who were trolling A.R.Rahamn. Chinmayi wrote, “When Rahman sir wins 2 Oscars and creates history, he is “An Indian”, but 7-8 Tamil gaane kya gaa liye aap naraaz hote ho. What yaar? The show was called ‘Netru Indru Naalai’, had 65% Hindi songs (Set List is out there). Music knows no boundaries/language. Chase the American dream, your kids can Spanish; Live in the UK that once colonised India – but cry foul when a when you hear Tamil songs.”
A.R. Rahman hasn’t yet responded on this issue yet and the whole world now wants to hear him speak on this.
