Actor Jiiva will next be seen in a film titled ‘Gorilla‘ which is being directed by Don Sandy and will star Shalini Pandey as the leading lady. The film will have a Chimpanzee as the central character and will be completely shot in Thailand. The film was recently announced by the makers and the shooting is slated to begin sometime next month. Jiiva’s ‘Gorilla‘ will have a Chimpanzee named Kong is from the world renowned Samut training station of Thailand and boasts of training animals for Hollywood films like ‘Hangover 2‘, ‘Planets of the Apes‘. And while all this is happening, Jiiva has announced his next, after ‘Gorilla‘, and will be teaming up with acclaimed filmmaker Raju Murugan and the film is titled ‘Gypsy‘.

Raju Murugan is a National Award winning director and has delivered classy films like ‘Cuckoo‘ and ‘Joker‘. Raju Murugan, who will be penning dialogues for ‘Varma‘, the Tamil remake of ‘Arjun Reddy‘ and is being directed by Bala, is believed to have narrated the story of ‘Gypsy‘ to Jiiva who liked it immensely as it was both different and unique.
‘Gypsy’ will be produced by S Ambedkumar on the banner ‘Olympia Movies’, which has produced films like ‘Desingu Raja’ and ‘Manam Kothi Paravai‘. Raju Murugan, who has made films that have focused on social lifestyles and social structures, will look to make ‘Gypsy’ as a commercial entertainer with social consciousness, the makers said in an official statement. The director and his unit will be shooting at various places across the country for this film.
Jiiva, on the other hand, has two films currently under his belt – ‘Kee‘ and ‘Kalakalappu 2‘ – which are in various stages of production. ‘Kee‘ is said to be a sci-fi thriller while ‘Kalakalappu 2‘ is a comedy genre film. ‘Kalakalappu 2‘ also stars Catherine Tresa, Nikki Galrani and Jai in other lead roles and is being directed and produced by Sundar C.
