Actor Vishal filed his nomination to contest from the vacant RK Nagar constituency after it has been vacant since the demise of the late Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu J Jayalalitha. Vishal says that he can’t be waiting looking at everything and wants to fight the polls which will take place on December 21st, 2017. Vishal says that he draws inspiration from two people, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and late President of India Dr Abdul Kalam. “I look up to these two people. I haven’t met Arvind Kejriwal but he is a people’s leader. I’m not going to be a politician and will remain a commoner,” Vishal was quoted as saying by News18.
“I want to be the voice of RK Nagar. I want to be the representative of the people and I’m not going to be a full time politician. I have no long-term plan. It is just a gut feeling and I want to contest the election,” Vishal further added. Vishal is said to have already begun holding meeting with the local legislative leaders and has been discussing about the issues in the RK Nagar constituency.
Vishal filed the nomination today for the RK Nagar constituency and paid tributes to formers CMs MGR and Kamarajar. Vishal also visited the memorial of yesteryear legendary actor Sivaji Ganesan and paid tributes to him. While top actors like Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth have been hinting at a political entry, Vishal takes the plunge into politics without much discussion and buzz around his entry.
