Ajith’s Vivegam box office collections stay strong during the weekend in India and overseas too

Vivegam had a mammoth INR 1.25 crores collections on day 1 at just the Chennai box office while the number on day only doubled.

Ajith Kumar starrer Vivegam hit the big screens on August 24th, 2017 worldwide and has been receiving overwhelming response from the fans of one of the top stars of Tamil cinema. The opening day saw all the theatres full with all shows being sold out in advance when the makers released the bookings online. Directed by Siva, Vivegam had Ajith playing the role of a spy who is seen fighting a friend turned foe which is played by Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi.

On the first day, Vivegam earned INR 5.85 crores in Chennai only while all over India, this number is being predicted to be at around INR 7 crores. The USA box office collections of Vivegam stood at $455,000 as of Sunday evening and the exact number is yet to be reported by the distributors there. The collections of Vivegam worldwide as on Sunday morning, meaning till Saturday late in the evening, stood at INR 38 crores which is the largest collection for a film of Ajith in his career. It is being predicted that Vivegam could well be the fastest Tamil cinema to hit the INR 100 crore mark in terms of collections, going by the first 4 days of collections.

Vivegam has also been released in Telugu, titled Vivekam, and the collections in the Telugu states are also steady since Ajith has a decent market share amongst Telugu audience. The numbers are expected to go up, given the festive season, and trade pundits are predicting that it might hit the INR 100 crore number this week anytime.
