Anirudh and Sivakarthikeyan make the audio launch of Velaikkaran a starry evening.

Sivakarthikeyan is one of the Tamil cinema’s most bankable stars. From playing the boy-next-door in the film Marina to playing the role of a sincere lover in Remo, Sivakarthikeyan’s star presence in the film industry is rising every day. The audio launch of his latest film Velaikkaran took place in Chennai yesterday, and the event was a grand success. The makers of the film decided to honor everyday ‘heroes’ who make the lives of Chennaities better. Traffic Police Kumar, Auto Annadurai, Moar Thaatha, Sundari Akka, Birdman Joseph were the ones awarded for this tireless dedication in their respective fields. This generous gesture is truly commendable, and it did seem like the makers of the film are giving us a hint that the story of Velaikkaran may talk about the extraordinary people in our world. Actors Nayanthara and Fahadh Faasil, who play pivotal roles in the film weren’t present at the audio launch.

The music composer of Velaikkaran, Anirudh Ravichander also performed two songs from the film. Anirudh also said how the script of Velaikkaran made him feel like a better human being. The songs of the film are an instant hit. Special focus has been given to lyrics of the film. This can be evident from the track ‘Ezhu Velaikkara’ which speak about determination and motivates one to never give up. The makers also decided to show the attendees the hard work behind creating a slum set-up for a film. Created by art director Muthuraj, the set seemed impressively close to the original.

Sivakarthikeyan’s speech was another highlight of the film. But there was one point from the speech that everyone took notice of, and it was when Sivakarthikeyan announced that he would not endorse brands or act in ads anymore. He also went on to say “Velaikkaran has given me great hope and changed me a lot as a person. I’m sure the impact of the film will continue to change me personally. I’ve come out of my comfort zone for the first time. Going forward, if I do nine movies to entertain audiences, I will do at least one film like Velaikkaran to educate viewers and connect with them emotionally,” he said. The director of the film Mohan Raja went on to say that nobody better than Sivakarthikeyan could have pulled off this role.

Produced by 24AM studios, Velaikkaran is said to release on December 22, 2017.
