The suave Arvind Swami is arguably one of the most talented and respected performers in the Tamil film industry today. During his reasonably eventful career, he has carved a niche for himself thanks to his dashing personality, gripping screen presence, sincere performances and of course tremendous range as an actor. Moreover, he has impressed movie buffs because of his refined yet bold nature. Arvind made his big screen debut in 1991 with Mani Ratnam’s classic ‘Roja’ and became the heartthrob of Tamil cinema. Thereafter, he starred in the critically acclaimed ‘Bombay’ and continued his rise to stardom. Thereafter, his career took a bit of a hit and he moved out of the limelight. However, that changed in 2015 when he delivered a solid performance in ‘Thani Oruvan’ and became the talk of the town. He reprised his role in its Telugu remake ‘Dhruva’ and struck gold again.

Now, Arvind is in the news again. As it so happens, he recently confirmed that he will be turning director in 2018 and adding a new dimension to his career. He also asked fans to ‘expect the unexpected’. Well, this is some awesome news and we wish him good luck for the future.

On a related note, this is a busy time for Arvind. He currently has ‘Naragasooran’ and ‘Bhaskar Oru Rascal’ in his kitty. ‘Naragasooran’ is a adventure-thriller and is the second directorial venture of Karthick Naren’s career. In it, he will be seen alongside Shriya Saran and ‘Bilingual Hero’ Sundeep Kishan. Sundeep’s role was initially offered to Naga Chaitanya. However, he was forced to say no to it courtesy a packed schedule

“He explained that he is busy with other commitments. We are still on good terms and would love to collaborate in the future,” the director had told a leading daily about Chai’s exit.

The film’s teaser was released a few days ago and it became the talk of the town in no time. The teaser featured some stunning visuals and made the wait for ‘Naragasooran’ difficult.

As far as ‘Bhaskar Oru Rascal’ is concerned, it is an action-comedy and will see Arvind essay the role of a single dad. A remake of Mammootty starrer ‘Bhaskar The Rascal’, it also has Amala Paul in the lead. She will be essaying the role essayed by ‘Lady Superstar’ Nayanthara in the original version. Sometime ago, she had said that working with Arvind was a good experience for her.

“Arvind Swami is an actor who has an amazing life outside of cinema. We always had so much to talk about when we met on the sets. We have shared interests in travel and adventure. He’s a wonderful soul and a great human to look up to,” she had told a leading website.

Bollywood star Aftab Shivdisani too is a part of the cast and will be seen essaying a negative role here. Sometime ago, he had said that he enjoyed working with Arvind and co.

“I have also been shooting with Arvind and Amala who have been warm. For me, it’s like working with foreign actors! We have mutual respect and admiration for each other’s work. I have known Arvind socially, so we get along really well. The rest of the team is also very welcoming,” he had told a leading daily.

On a related note, Arvind has also been in the news these days because of his hard-hitting views on a range of topics. He had recently spoken about demonetisation and said that he will always support initiatives for fighting corruption.

“Even given the fact that I don’t perceive the results to be positive, I would welcome and support any such initiative in the future that intends to curb black money and corruption, with the optimism that the loopholes in implementation will be thought of beforehand and plugged, the next time around. Lakhs of people stood in queues for hours to collect their money and there was hardly any dissent. That was because people of this country thought that it was for the good of the nation. They were the ones who actually worked hard in its implementation,” he had told a leading website.
