This Bollywood filmmaker wants to cast Rajinikanth as King Lear

Rajinikanth is arguably the biggest and most decorated star in Tamil cinema today. During his illustrious career, ‘Thalaiva’—as fans call him—has established himself as the choice of the common man thanks to his stylish onscreen mannerisms. And, it seems that not just movie buffs but noted filmmakers too hold Rajini in high regard. As it so happens, during a recently held event, director Vishal Bhardwaj revealed that he would love to cast Rajinikanth as King Lear if he ever decides to make a film on the topic. He also revealed that he had written a script for the same before beginning ‘Haider’.

“Before making Haider, I had worked on the script of King Lear and visualised Rajnikanth in the lead role. He will be my first choice, if and when I decide to make the film,” he added.

Well, that is a nice revelation and is bound to create quite a buzz amongst fans.

On a related note, Vishal Bhardwaj’s latest directorial venture ‘Rangoon’ hit screens earlier this year and tanked at the box office. As far as Rajinikanth is concerned, he is currently busy shooting for ‘Kaala’. The film is a crime drama and is being directed by Pa Ranjith. Besides this, the veteran also has ‘2.0’ in his kitty. A sequel to the 2010 release ‘Enthiran’, it has been directed by S Shankar and also features Amy Jackson in the lead. If all goes as planned, it will hit screens in early 2018.

So, do you feel that Rajinikanth will be the right choice for King Lear? Comments, please!

Superstar Rajinikanth perfectly suits this role. Because he is the only actor who is accepted by all for whatever role assigned to him. Because he lives the character where as others act.
