The festive season of Pongal witnesses release of two big-ticket films – Thaanaa Serndha Koottam and Sketch. Starring Suriya in the lead role, Thaanaa Serndha Koottam had a thunderous opening on day 1 and kept the box office ringing with collections. On the other hand, Vikram’s ‘Sketch’ too received a storming opening on day 1 and has been receiving positive reviews all the way long. According to latest reports, all the shows have been occupied fully across Tamil Nadu and Chennai city witnessed huge collections. Reports reveal that Sketch collected approximately INR 0.39 crores in Chennai city alone and adding the numbers from across the globe, the collections are said to be approximately INR 0.61 crores which makes it one of the biggest opening for Chiyaan Vikram in his career. Directed by Vijay Chander, Sketch also stars Tamannaah Bhatia as the leading lady and is said to be heist-thriller.

The music of the film is composed by Thaman SS who has been having a dream run in the last couple of years. The music, again, has contributed immensely to the film and has kept the fans of the actor excited about the film. Thaman has also come up with a theme for the film names ‘Therichified’ which is mass to the core and has raised the expectations on the film.

Director Vijay Chandar had recently said that besides the commercial elements, ‘Sketch’ will also have a striking chemistry between Vikram and Tamannaah and the actress’ character will be the highlight of the film. The director also says that Tamannaah’s role has a lot of prominence in the film and will be an inherent part of the story.

“Tamannaah plays Ammu, a girl-next-door, and she shares a beautiful relationship with Vikram. Romance is very intrinsic to the script and their chemistry is very relatable. Their characters kind of complement each other. I can say that women who see the film would want to be like Ammu,” director Vijay Chandar had said recently.

Trade experts are predicting that with the festive holidays around, the numbers may further go up over the weekend and make it a hit flick.
