Cinematic genius Mani Ratnam is known for producing ecstatic films and highly intense stories. Not many know that Mani Ratnam’s first outing was in Kannada in Pallavi Anu Pallavi in 1983 that starred Bollywood thespian Anil Kapoor. Even though the film did not do well, Mani Ratnam was appreciated for the story and his narration. His next film was in Malayalam titled Unaru that featured Mohanlal in the lead. The story of Unaru was by written T. Damodaran and directed by Mani Ratnam. His first break in Tamil was in the form of Pagal Nilavu in 1985. There was no looking back for the auteur since then. His latest film is Kaatru Veliyidai with Karthi and Aditi Rao Hydari in lead roles.
