Superstar Rajinikanth is gearing up the release of his upcoming film Kaala which is directed by Pa Ranjith. Said to be a gangster drama, Kaala will have Rajinikanth playing a slum lord turned gangster who fights for the right of the people from his community. Rajinikanth was in Hyderabad for the pre-release event of Kaala and spoke few words at the event. Showering praise on his son-in-law and producer of Kaala, Dhanush, Rajinikanth said, “He is not only a good artiste but also a good producer.” Rajinikanth also said that he is sure that Telugu audience will embrace Kaala and love it. Rajinikanth has done more than 20 movies in Telugu before making it big in Tamil cinema and does enjoy a huge following in the Telugu states.
Rajinikanth also recalled his connection with veteran iconic actor NTR and said that he misses him a lot now. He also said that he remembers him every moment now hinting at his political journey. Speaking about Kaala, Rajinikanth said that director Ranjith presented the film with a proper blend of commerciality and political elements.
Kaala has a stellar star cast with few big names from Bollywood including Nana Patekar, Huma Qureshi and Pankaj Tripathi. Eswari Devi will be seen playing the role of Rajinikanth’s wife in Kaala while actor and filmmaker Samuthirakani will be seen playing an important role. Marathi and Bollywood actor Anjali Patil too would be seen playing a pivotal role in Kaala.
The music of Kaala is being rendered by Santosh Narayanan who had also composed the music for Kabali directed by Pa Ranjith again. The song Neruppu Da became a rage amongst music lovers across the globe and not just amongst Tamil movie buffs. Expectations on the album of Kaala is quite high since the first look posters of the film indicate that Rajinikanth would be seen playing a powerful don in the film. Kaala is said to be set in the slums of Mumbai’s Dhaaravi.
