Even as actor Dileep continues cooling his heels in prison in the Malayalam actor assault case, his movie Ramaleela hit cinemas across the country on Thursday after the release was postponed several times.
Dileep had tried to secure bail from the court before the film’s release but was denied each time. Fans of the actor were waiting eagerly for the release of the movie since morning. According to the information given by theatres in Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam districts, most theatres were houseful for all screenings thus far.
But the most surprising thing to note is that the film’s plot has an uncanny resemblance to Dileep’s real life. There are shots from the film that resemble events that occurred to the actor after he was arrested in the assault case.
Dileep was allowed to go home to perform his father’s death anniversary rituals on September 4. In the film, Ramanunni (played by Dileep), too, performs the last rites of his father to gain some sympathy. However, in the film, this appears as a comic scene.
In the movie, the real motive of Ramanunni is revenge and according to police, Dileep’s motive for being the alleged mastermind behind the assault was also revenge and he stands accused of plotting the conspiracy for several years.
Touted to be one of the most expensive films made in Malayalam, Ramaleela is directed by debutant Arun Gopi and produced by high-profile producer Tomichan Mulakupadam.
As per reports, it’s approximate budget was Rs 15 crore.
Prayaga Martin, Renji Panicker, Mukesh, and Vijayaraghavan are among the other prominent actors to feature in the movie.
