Director Atlee Kumar scaled to new heights with his last year release Mersal which had Thalapathy Vijay in the lead and triple roles. Mersal was one of the biggest hits in Tamil cinema last year after having clocked gross collections of over Rs.150 crores worldwide. And post Mersal, director Atlee hasn’t spoken much about his next while Vijay has started working on his next with A.R.Murugadoss. Reports were afloat that Atlee had narrated a one-liner to Telugu actor Jr NTR and discussions were in progress for a film together. However, nothing much materialised there. And Telugu film cirlces were abuzz that Atlee is considering narrating another script to another top Telugu star, Allu Arjun, however the PR machinery of the stylish star denied any such developments.
And clearing all the air around his next film, Atlee has confirmed that his next film will not be with any Telugu actor. Speaking at an awards ceremony yesterday, Atlee confirmed the news that his next won’t have a Telugu actor however, he didn’t confirm either who his next would have. It was also being reported that Atlee may remake Vijay starrer Theri, directed by himself, in Telugu with Ravi Teja but this news too died down over a period of time. At the present moment, Atlee is yet to sign a film and is still in discussions about the lead actor. After the magnanimous success of Mersal, Atlee is now the in-demand director in Kollywood and the director may not find it hard to sign on any actor for his next.
Atlee started his career with Raja Rani that starred Arya, Jai, Nayanthara and Nazriya Nazim in the roles which went on to become one of the biggest hits that year. Atlee followed it up with another hit in 2016 with Theri which was his first time association with Vijay.
