During a recent interaction with a leading website, director Bramma opened up about his latest directorial venture ‘Magalir Mattum’ and said that it will make the audience respect/appreciate women even more. He went on to add that the film highlights how there is a need to respect both genders.
“This film is a celebration of women. It will make the audience celebrate the women in their lives. We should inculcate mutual respect and empathy for both genders and that is what I have tried to do in Magalir Mattum,” he added.
Besides this, he also spoke about working with Jyothika and said that she was the first critic of ‘Magalir Mattum’. He further stressed that he made Jo dub her own lines as he felt that her voice suited the character perfectly.
“I felt that her voice perfectly suited the role of Prabhavathy, a documentary filmmaker and I insisted she dub, to provide authenticity. Her voice brings some genuineness and honesty to the role, which the dubbing artists cannot offer,” added Bramma.
Interestingly, ‘Magalir Mattum’ is the second film of Bramma’s career. His first film ‘Kuttram Kadithal’ was released in 2015 and earned rave reviews thanks to its hard hitting plot which revolved around flaws in the educational system. As it so happens, just like ‘Magalir Mattum’, it too revolved around the lives of women. Talking about this, he said that it was merely a ‘coincidence’.
“I was not deliberately planning to make back-to-back women-centric films. My next two movies will deal with different subjects and genres. There are a lot of inspiring women in my life, and I derive my characters from them,” he added.
Well, we hope that ‘Magalir Mattum’ does well at the box office and helps Jo add another dimension to her career.
