In a shocking news director C Sivakumar, who has directed films like Ayudha Poojai starring Arjun in 1995 and Rettai Jadai Vayasu starring Ajith in 1997, was found dead at his residence in Saligramam in Chennai. According to media reports, the body of the director was found in a decomposed state at his residence. The police are currently investigating the issue and it is unsure whether he committed suicide or if it is a case of murder. The body of the director will be handed over to the family only after the investigation.
Director C Sivakumar started his career as an assistant with Director K Bhagyaraj before turning a director. Both his films were produced by N Palaniswamy of Bhagyam Cine Combines.
This news has left the whole Kollywood industry into a state of shock and have been sending out their last respects on social media. Reportedly, the last rites of the director will be performed only after the completion of police investigation.
A couple of months ago, film director and producer Muktha Srinivasan, 88, passed away in Chennai. Srinivasan was one of the founders of, and served as President for, the Tamil Film Producer Council. He served as President of the South Indian film chamber of commerce He was Chairman of Film City, owned by the state government of Tamil Nadu. He was also Member of Award Films Committees and a Board Member of the Film Censor Board.
In April this year, veteran film director CV Rajendran passed away after a prolonged illness. He was 81. Rajendran has directed popular movies in Tamil like Galatta Kalyanam, Sumathi En Sundari and Raja starring Sivaji Ganesan and J.Jayalalithaa who later became Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister. He also directed other popular movies like Vani Rani, Sivagamiyin Selvam, Ponnoonjal, Maalai Sooda Va, Garjanai and several others in Tamil starring Sivaji Ganesan, Jaishankar, Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth.
