Nayanthara and Sivakarthikeyan starrer Velaikkaran is written and directed by popular filmmaker Mohan Raja, who earlier directed Nayanthara in Jayam Ravi starrer Thani Oruvan. Mohan Raja says that Nayanthara is a wonderful actress and deserves every bit of the success she is enjoying now. He also adds that there were differences between him and Nayanthara during the making of Thani Oruvan, which later were resolved.

Speaking a leading daily, director Mohan Raja said, “During Thani Oruvan, there were few hard feelings between us. It was my fault that as a director I only had Mithran and Siddharth Abhimanyu in mind. So, it’s quite natural for a top heroine to think that she was not being utilised. After Thani Oruvan’s preview, Nayanthara told me that she should have cooperated more and didn’t understand that she is part of a good film. Nayanthara was magnanimous enough to say that.”

Mohan Raja, who is now back with Velaikkaran with Sivakarthikeyan, says that Nayanthara plays a strong character in the film. “In Velaikkaran, Nayanthara plays Mrunalini, her character acts as a huge strength for the hero Sivakarthikeyan, who plays a righteous guy named Arivu,” said Mohan Raja.

Velaikkaran will be the first time teaming up for Sivakarthikeyan and Nayanthara. Another interesting aspect of Velaikkaran is that Bollywood and Marathi actor Mahesh Manjrekar is also a part of the cast and plays a very important role.

The story of Velaikkaran is based on food adulteration and how a young man, played by Sivakarthikeyan, deals with it. Besides Nayanthara and Sivakarthikeyan, Velaikkaran also features Prakash Raj, Sneha and Thambi Ramaiah.
