Maverick director S Shankar is someone who has never really shied away from praising the work of other filmmakers. In the past, he has praised films such as ‘Kaaka Muttai’ and ‘Aruvi’ to name a few. Now, the ‘Indian’ filmmaker has once again showered praise on a film. As it so happens, Shankar just took to Twitter and shared his views about the recently-released magnum opus ‘Padmaavat’. In his tweet, he stated that the epic-drama boasts of some ‘amazing’ visuals and has been directed skilfully. He also praised the grand ‘Ghoomar’ number as well as its performances.

“Padmavati- Engaging with Amazing visuals. Good to see fantastic work of Sudeep,Prod.designer,Costume designer,Deepika,Ranveer and ofcourse Sanjay. Ghoomar…wah what a song,” he tweeted.

In case you did not know, ‘Padmaavat’ is one of the most controversial Hindi films in recent times. Described as a tale of Rajput valour, it faced opposition from several groups who claimed that it ‘distorted’ history. Speaking about the controversy, Kannada star Upendra had said that wrecking a system is not the right way to deal with the situation.

“We have a system. If we wreck it, what will our society become? There are certain rules to follow and we also have a Censor Board. I’m not saying don’t protest against something you don’t like. You can protest (peacefully), call the director and speak with him,” he had told a leading daily.

After several delays, it finally hit screens on January 25 and opened to good response at the box office. On a related note, Shankar is currently gearing up for the release of ‘2.0’. The film is a sci-fi thriller and features Rajinikanth in the lead. A sequel to the 2010 blockbuster ‘Enthiran’, it is slated to hit screens in April and also has Akshay Kumar in a key role.
