During a recent interaction with IANS, Shakti Soundar Rajan—who is currently gearing up for the release of ‘Tik Tik Tik’—revealed that it is difficult to make a space film in a commercial setup. He went on to add that making such a film is an extensive process and requires a lot of time.
“In this genre, to crack a story that everyone understands is really tough. What’s even more challenging is to put space in a commercial set up. There are not too many elements to play with when you’re in space. The writing process, especially the exhaustive research work, took us nine months. That’s the time that’s usually spent on writing, shooting and making a regular commercial film,” he added.
Besides this, the director also added that he met with a retired scientist in order to understand how a space mission actually operates.
“Initially, we spoke to a retired scientist from ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) and got the basic facts right about everything related to space — the space shuttle set up, the kind of work that goes on ground and in space during a mission and the important decisions that are taken,” he added.
Well, we hope that Rajan’s efforts pay off and ‘Tik Tik Tik’ does well at the box office. In case you did not know, Tik Tik Tik is touted to be India’s first major space film and features Jayam Ravi-Nivetha Pethuraj in the lead.
