Actor Vijay’s Mersal seems to have upset the doctors across the state of Tamil Nadu with few scenes and episodes in the film. Apparently, doctors in the state are upset with Mersal for showing them in poor light in the film, according to reports. And protesting against the film, the doctors are sharing the leaked full movie from pirated websites on their social media pages and asking other doctors to do the same, reports reveal. The reason for such step, doctors say, is to not pay for the film and let it go into losses by sharing the pirated versions of the film.
“We decided not to approach the media or court for relief. We will only be giving more publicity for the movie. Instead, if we spread the movie links on webpages, it will hit their collections. I hope they will realise then,” a report in TOI quoted Indian Medical Association president Dr TN Ravishankar. It is said that the character played by Vijay says that common people are going to private hospitals because government hospitals fail to offer better services.
“He also say we use this profession only to make money,” Dr Ravishankar further added. It is also being said that the association is also seeking help from local associations which include – Association of Physicians of India, Federation of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Society of India and Indian Radiologists and Imaging Association.
The makers of Mersal are yet to take an action on this. What is to be seen is if producers of Mersal will proceed legally for encouraging piracy or if they would want to hold discussions with the doctors’ associations.
