Mersal is currently the focal point of the nation with so much happening around the film. Few political leaders have opposed the GST scene in the film and have been insisting that the scene be removed from the film. The pressure seems to have taken a toll on the producers, Sri Thenandal Films, and they have agreed to chop off the GST scene from the film. However, people from the Tamil film industry and other film industries too have come in support of the film and say that it’s unfair to treat a film like this which is a pure work of fiction. The latest to come in support of the film is thespian Kamal Haasan who says it is incorrect to treat a film in such fashion.
Talking about it in his tweet last night, Kamal Haasan wrote – “Mersal was certified. Dont re-censor it . Counter criticism with logical response. Dont silence critics. India will shine when it speaks.” Kamal clearly states that if someone has a problem with few scenes or a dialogue in a film, it has to be dealt logically and not by silencing the critics or the media. Many other actors, directors and producers have stood in support of the film and are opposing this move by the political leaders against Mersal.
