After producer Ashok Kumar killed himself for being harassed by financiers, many popular Tamil film personalities are coming out in open and speaking about the menace of financiers in the industry now. Actor and Tamil Film Producers’ Council President Vishal said, in a long message on his Facebook page, that those responsible for the death of Ashok Kumar should be brought to justice and his death should be treated as a murder. Ashok Kumar’s cousin and actor M.Sasikumar has reportedly filed a police complaint against the financier, Anbuchezhian, at a police station in Chennai.
Another popular filmmaker, Gautham Vasudev Menon, also spoke about Ashok Kumar’s death and posted an emotional condolence message on his social networking page. “Ashok, I know that your death would control the heartless money demon but we all wish that you should’ve lead this protest alive,” wrote Gautham Vasudev Menon on his Facebook page. Ashok was the associate producer of films like Subramaniapuram and Nadodigal which were made by his cousin, M.Sasikumar.
Actor Vishal said that now is the time to end the menace and set things straight in the Tamil film industry. “It’s time, we put an end to such Financiers who harass producers & conduct kattapanjayathu. We wish all Producers stay united and work towards the welfare of each one of us. I request the Police to take stringent action and bring justice to the innocent’s death & also consider this as a Murder & not Suicide…. This is a direct warning to all Financiers, likeminded people & so called federations who extort money, more than the stipulated interest & to the People who harass honest Producers & family members,” Vishal wrote on his social networking page.
