Upcoming filmmaker Lokesh Kumar’s ‘My Son Is Gay’ has completed censor formalities and has been passed with a U/A certificate. As the name suggests, it revolves around the issue of homosexuality and deals with a young man who tells his mother about his sexual orientation. According to a press release, ‘My Son Is Gay’ deals with how a mother has difficulties accepting her son’s sexual orientation.
“A sensitive and poignant tale of a mother who finds it difficult to come to terms with her son’s opening up about his sexual orientation, the film has been slowly but surely grabbing the attention of not just media and the film festival circuit but also that of discerning viewers who make up for the prospective audience for the film,” the press release stated.
Interestingly, ‘My Son Is Gay’ features actress Anupama Kumar and newcomer Ashwinjith in central roles. The film’s supporting cast includes names such as JP and Kishore. During a recent chat with Pinkvilla South, Kishore had said that the film does a good job of conveying a strong message on its core issue
“There is My Son is Gay which is a small production but a good one. It clearly conveys what it intended. It can definitely open up minds to the LGBT issue in a touching way.I did this because my friend Anupama(Kumar) is in it and I have a small role,” he had added
As it so happens, the film was originally supposed to be made in Hindi but that that did not happen. Thereafter, Lokesh decided to make it in Tamil. Well, we wish the team of MSIG the very best and hope that the film hits screens soon.
