Its been a year that Former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu J Jayalalitha passed away and the iron lady still is remembered as ‘Amma’ by many people across Tamil Nadu. Before venturing into politics, Jayalalitha was one of the top actresses in South Indian cinema having worked in more than 140 films. Jayalalitha made her acting debut in 1957 with Mayabazar as a young actor and later went on to act in numerous films as a lead actress. Jayalalitha entered films at a very young age and acted in all the four South Indian languages – Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. Jayalalitha acting was three decades and spread over the 60s, 870s and 80s, and has acted with all the top stars including MGR, Sivaji Ganesan and Sobhan Babu among many others.
Jayalalitha entered into politics in 1982 and then later became the youngest Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu when she was chosen as the leader of the state in 1991. Amma’s following amplified after she became the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and she had become people’s leader gradually over the number of years.
