Tamil superstar Vikram’s son Dhruv is currently shooting for his maiden film Varma. And, as expected, this has created quite a buzz amongst movie buffs. The film is being helmed by ace filmmaker Bala and will feature the young man in a macho look. A remake of the critically-acclaimed Tollywood hit Arjun Reddy, it is likely to feature a dark plot and could serve as a solid debut for Dhruv. Recently, it was rumoured that actor Gautami’s daughter would play the female lead opposite Dhruv in Varma. And, this created a buzz in the industry. However, it seems that such a thing will not be happening. Gautami just took to Twitter and clarified that her daughter is currently studying and has no plans of entering films.
“Taken aback to see news about my daughter’s acting debut. Subhalaxmi is committed to her studies and has no plans for acting now. Thank you all for your blessings on her,” she added.
Well, it seems that we will just have to wait a bit longer to find out who plays Dhruv’s lady love.
In case you did not know, Arjun Reddy was a comedy-drama and featured Vijay Deverakonda-Shalini Pandey in the lead. It had grabbed plenty of eyeballs prior to its release courtesy its bold content and numerous liplocks. Let us hope that Varma does justice to the high standards set by it.
On a related note, Gautami has been in the news of late because of her hard-hitting comments about her former partner/ veteran actor Kamal Haasan. In her blog post, she had claimed that she has not been paid for the work did on his films in her professional capacity.
“It grieves me greatly to have to say that as of October 2016, I had salary dues pending right from earlier films like Dasavataram, Vishwaroopam, etc,” she had written.
So, who should play the female lead in Varma? Comments, please!
