There can be no denying that Tamil actor Gautham Karthik is going through a terrific phase on the professional front these days. His recently released ‘Rangoon’ opened to a good response at the ticket window and earned rave reviews along the way. In fact, some critics even said that it was the best performance of his career. During a recent interaction with a news agency, he said that the film’s success means a lot to him.
“It feels really special that I finally have a hit film. I know I made some wrong career choices and that’s why this success means a lot. It motivates me to work harder,” he added.
Moreover, the young star highlighted how he owes his career to Mani Ratnam, who gave him a break with ‘Kadal’.
“I owe my career to Mani sir and ‘Kadal’. If not for that film, I wouldn’t have ventured into acting and done ten films so far. The film’s failure didn’t affect me,” the 27-year-old said.
Interestingly, during the interview, he also revealed that he does not want to be compared to his dad Karthik. And, as such, would never star in the remake of his films.
“I try to be as different as possible. Dad raised me very independently and let me learn things on my own. I’ll always be grateful for that but I don’t want to be compared with him,” Gautham said.
In case you did not know, ‘Rangoon’ is touted to be a crime-drama and features Gautham in the role of a Burmerse repatriate. It has been directed by Rajkumar Periasamy.
