Tamil star Karthi’s latest release ‘Theeran Adhigaram Ondru’ has fared quite well at the box office so far. And, as expected, the film’s director H Vinoth is quite happy about it. During a recent chat with a leading daily, he said that several policemen have called him and congratulated him for depicting a cop’s life in a realistic way. He added that he feels to have been able to make an effective film within the constraints of commercial cinema.
“I have also got a number of calls from policemen who are very happy about the portrayal of their work in the film. As filmmakers, there’s little freedom we get in a commercial film; so I’m happy that whatever I could say in this film has made an impact,” he added.
Interestingly, while ‘Theeran Adhigaram Ondru’ has been praised by movie buffs, some people have criticised its under-utilised romantic track. Defending his film, Vinoth said such elements are needed while working with a star of Karthi’s status.
“When you make a film with a big hero like Karthi, it’s important to cater to everyone. That’s how we can ensure a good collection. I also have to remember that there’s a big audience out there for Karthi. So, yes, this pressure of working with a big star was new for me,” said Vinoth.
Well, we are happy for him and hope that ‘Theeran Adhigaram Ondru’ continues raking in the mullah in the days to come.
