Actor Vijay’s upcoming film Sarkar, is currently a talk of the town ever since the first look of the film got released a couple of weeks ago. The first poster of the film has hit the controversy. One of the posters of Sarkar had Vijay in a smoking pose, which created a lot of backlash from a certain section of the audience. The makers were forced to pull down the poster from their respective social media accounts. Now reportedly, Somasundaram, Joint Director, Health Department, reveals that they will review to know whether the makers have adhered to the law.
Talking to TOI, he said, “Based on COTPA (The Cigarette and Other Other Tobacco Products Act, 2003), we had sent a letter asking the makers to remove the poster which showed the actor smoking. We got to know from various media sources that it has been taken off. We will do a final verification on the same on Wednesday or Thursday to check if the makers have obeyed the law, failing of which may require further actions.”
On the other hand, the makers of the film think it’s a planned attack and that the health department has already sorted the issue over the poster.
Sarkar is said to be an action entertainer. Keerthy Suresh would be playing the female lead in Sarkar and will be her second film with Vijay after Bairavaa. Veteran actor Livingston would be seen playing an important role in the film.
Sarkar will mark the third film for Vijay and A.R.Murugadoss together after previously working on blockbusters like Thuppaki and Kaththi. The music of Sarkar is being composed by AR Rahman and the maestro’s previous album for Vijay in Mersal was a super hit one leading to huge expectations on Sarkar too. Directed by A.R.Murugadoss, Sarkar will have Vijay playing a stylish and uber cool role and with the first look posters out now, the expectations are quite high on it now.
Meanwhile, 70% of the shooting has finished and the makers will soon be leaving to the USA for the shoot of Vijay’s intro sequence.
