The 2016 release ‘Kshanam’ was arguably one of the biggest surprise hits of the year. Directed by Ravikanth Perepu, the film made on a small budget and ended up doing exceedingly well at the box office. Now, the film’s Tamil remake ‘Sathya’ is all set to hit screens on December 8. Featuring actor Sibiraj in the lead, it has created quite a buzz amongst movie buffs and could repeat the success attained by the original. During a recent press meet, the film’s producer/veteran actor Sathyaraj said that his ‘Baahubali 2’ co-star Prabhas has had encouraged him to remake ‘Kshanam’ and told him that it is proof of how a film does not need a big star cast to succeed. He added that that the highlight of ‘Sathya’ is that it has some able actors.
“When Sibiraj told me about Kshanam, I was shooting with Prabhas for Baahubali in Hyderabad. When I asked him about the film, he said that Kshanam broke the myth that hit films should possess big heroes. It proved that content is king and his words gave me more confidence to remake the film. I didn’t watch the film even after buying the rights. One of the biggest highlights in Sathya is the selection of actors, and they have done a brilliant job,” he added.
On a related note, ‘Sathya’ is a crime-thriller and has been directed by Pradeep Krishnamoorthi. Besides Sibiraj, it also features Remya Nambeesan and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar in the lead.
