Actor Vishal, also President of Tamil Film Producers’ Council, recently lashed out at politician H.Raja for watching a pirated version of ‘Mersal’ and commenting on the scenes in the film. Vishal said that a time when the film industry is fighting this piracy bug, a personality like H.Raja watching a pirated copy does not set the right example. And after this spat between the two, coincidentally, Income Tax officials raided the offices of actor Vishal regarding few payments of TDS collected by his office.
“I came to know that TDS officials visited my premises. I was at a shooting. There was no one in my office at that point in time. I have been a dutiful taxpayer and have nothing to hide,” Vishal told reporters in the evening after the raids were done.
It was earlier reported that GSTI officials had raided Vishal’s office regarding GST payments and rumours started spreading like fire that the raids were backed by political motives and it was an outcome of the spat between Vishal and a political leader. Vishal later cleared all the air around the rumours and said it was an Income Tax check and not a raid by GSTI officials.
Sources close to Vishal claim that it cannot be a coincidence that the raids happen at a time when Vishal has voiced out against H.Raja for his comments on the film and for watching a pirated copy of the film. More details regarding the issue are waited for in the coming days.
