Jayalalithaa was under treatment at the hospital for almost 75 days and now, almost three years later, the bills of the hospital are leaked to media.

Jayalalithaa’s Apollo Hospital bills leaked, Rs 44 lakh still pending

Former politician and actress J Jayalalithaa’s death was a huge shock. She died of cardiac arrest on December 5. AIADMK’s undisputed leader Jayaram Jayalalithaa passed away in Chennai’s Apollo Hospital on December 5, 2016. She was 68. Jayalalithaa was under treatment at the hospital for almost 75 days and now, the hospital has released details about the pending bills. Documents submitted by Apollo Hospital that the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam has paid most of the bill. The food that was served to the actress cost a whopping Rs 1.17 crore.

All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam has paid most of the bill but a part of the bill is unpaid. Reportedly, Rs 44.46 lakh is still left to be settled. On the other hand, AIADMK had claimed that an amount of Rs 6 crore was already paid to the hospital on June 15, 2017and Rs 41 lakh earlier on October 13, 2016. However, the hospital records still show some above-mentioned amount outstanding.

“We are surprised that a confidential document submitted to the Commission has been leaked. Only two sides know about the document – Apollo Hospitals and the Commission. We had submitted it at the Commission’s office. Now, it has been leaked to media at which we are surprised,” Maimoon Badsha, counsel for Apollo at the Commission, said.
