In a development that is bound to send Jayam Ravi’s fans into a state of frenzy, his latest film ‘Vanamagan’—which hit screens earlier today—has been granted exemption from entertainment tax in Tamil Nadu. Needless to say, this decision is bound to have a positive impact on its commercial prospects in the state. In case you did not know, once a film is granted tax exemption, its gross collections end up becoming its net/final collections.
Interestingly, Vanamagan is touted to be an action drama and features Jayam Ravi in the role of a Tribal. Recently, star revealed that he actually interacted with tribal communities in order to do justice to his character.
“I have shed so many kilos and toned down my body. I watched several documentaries on tribals and interacted with some of the civilised tribal communities in Andamans. I loved their innocence and their natural way of living and tried to bring in the same,” he added.
Besides Jayam Ravi, ‘Vanamagan’ also features newcomer Sayyeshaa in the lead. This is the first Tamil film of her career. She made her big screen In 2015 with ‘Akhil’. Touted to be an action-drama, it also featured Akhil Akkineni in the lead and bombed at the ticket window. Thereafter, she entered Bollywood with ‘Shivaay.
Touted to be an action film, it featured Ajay Devgn in the lead and hit screens last Deepawali. Let us hope, Sayyeshaa’s Kollywood innings gets off to a solid start.
