Jyothika starrer Naachiyaar does well at the Chennai box office

According to a leading website, actor Jyothika’s latest release Naachiyaar—which hit screens on Friday—has managed to get off to a good start at the box office while earning rave reviews along the way. At the end of the first weekend, its collections stand at Rs 1. 21 crores in Chennai alone.  The favourable reviews seem to have done the trick for the film.  Given the limited competition it faces and Jyothika’s popularity, Naachiyaar will do even better in the days to come. It sure seems that this has the potential to be a winner.

In case you did not know, Naachiyaar is a drama and has been directed by Bala. In it, Jyothika plays the role of a foul-mouthed cop while young star GV Prakash Kumar essays a key role. Sometime ago, he had said that working on Naachiyaar was a good experience for her.

“With Bala sir, there’s toughness in each scene you perform. You can’t go just act and come out. He puts in a lot of effort to elevate a particular sequence. He is a master of creating characters that are close to reality, and the impact is such that the characters would stay with the audiences. She is a very positive person. A wonderful and the best co-star! She has no airs around her, and if you perform well, she would come and appreciate your work instantly,” he had told a leading daily.

On a related note, Jyo has been on a roll of late. Last year, she delivered a hit in Magalir Mattum and proved that she is a superstar in the truest sense.  Talking about it, she ha said that it is a very relatable story.

At present, she has Chekka Chivantha Vaanam in her kitty. It is a Mani Ratnam directorial and also has Arvind Swami in the lead.
