Earlier today, the Supreme Court announced its verdict in the Cauvery dispute case and effectively reduced Tamil Nadu’s share by 14.57 mcft. And, as expected, this created a buzz in Tamil Nadu as well as Karnataka. Speaking about the verdict, veteran actor-turned politician Kamal Haasan said that it was quite ‘disappointing’ and urged political parties to refrain from using the issue for undue gains.
“The reduction of water allocation to Tamil Nadu is definitely disappointing, but political parties must not see this as an opportunity to get votes,” said the star.
He also urged farmers from both states to come together and not be a victim of political plots.
“We should find ways and means to use the available water judiciously. If the government has failed to protect groundwater, then we should protect it,” added Haasan.
These are strong words and prove that he is one strong-minded person. On a elated note, Haasan has already confirmed he will soon be beginning a political tour in order to understand the needs of the common man.
“I intend to embark on a journey across the state from February 21, 2018, to truly understand as to what the needs of my people are? what is afflicting them? what their aspirations are? Further, this momentous journey of meeting people across Tamil Nadu is neither an act of rebellion nor is it a gathering for glamour,” Haasan had added.
On the work front, Haasan currently has the eagerly-awaited Vishwaroopam 2 and Indian 2 in his kitty. Vishwaoopam 2 is an ambitious spy-thriller and is a sequel to Vishwaroopam. In it, Haasan will be seen alongside actor Andrea. As far as Indian 2 is concerned, it is a sequel to the classic Indian and is being directed by S Shankar.
