Kamal Haasan feels politics will drive a wedge between Rajinikanth and him

A few days ago, actor Kamal Haasan ruffled a few feathers when he took a dig at friend-cum-rival Rajinikanth and claimed that ‘Thalaivaa’ has been silent on a number of important issues. Now, he has again taken a shot at Rajini. Speaking to a leading daily, he said that politics is bound to drive a wedge between them. He added that cinema also did the same as both men have always had different takes on the kind of films that should be done.

“Absolutely it will… even our profession did. Rajnikanth’s kind of movies is different. I don’t believe in those kinds of films because I don’t want to do his kind of films. Likewise, he wouldn’t want to do the kind of films I am doing. I am sure politics may also have a similar divide. That doesn’t mean, I have to condemn him to the disappearance,” he added.

Haasan also took a sly dig at Rajini’s ‘spiritual politics’ and said that he has no religion and believes in amity.

“I do not yet know his political views. But, (my stand is that) I won’t take sides. I have no religion. I believe in all religions, I believe in amity,” he added

These remarks could ruffle a few feathers and it will be worth watching if Rajinikanth responds to them.

On the work front, Haasan has Vishwaroopam 2 and Indian 2 in his kitty. Vishwaroopam 2 is a sequel to the 2013 spy-thriller Vishwaroopam and also features actor Andrea Jeremiah in the lead. As far as Indian 2 is concerned, it is a sequel to the classic vigilante drama Indian and will be directed by A-list filmmaker S Shankar.

As far Rajinikanth is concerned, he will next be seen in Kaala. It is a crime-drama and also has Huma Qureshi in a key role.
