For nearly four decades Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth have ruled the world of Tamil cinema and managed to become the pride of Kollywood. Given the fact that both were groomed by the legendary K Balachander and began their respective careers around the same time, the two have always been considered to be professional rivals. After competing on the big screen, the two have now entered politics. And, this has led to a situation where Rajini and Haasan will either collaborate or compete with each other.
Now, in a development that could indicate what the future holds, Haasan has criticised Rajinikanth’s ‘silence’ on a host of matters. Replying a question about ‘Thalaiva’ keeping mum on the Cauvery dispute and not taking part in protests, Haasan said that he has kept quiet on a host of topics and not just the Cauvery verdict alone.
“This is not the only issue on which Rajanikanth has not expressed his opinion. But there are several other issues also and it is not right to point only to one issue,” he added.
Well, this is a big statement and could ruffle a few feathers.
Interestingly, while talking about forming a political understanding with Rajini, ‘Ulaga Nayagan’ had once said that time will answer that question.
“First, we both have to start our own parties… Then announce principles/policies… If there is a match or synergy in that, then we can think of working together. Only time will tell,” he had added.
Based on this recent remark, it will be worth watching if the two matinee idols work together in the future.
On the professional side of things, Haasan currently has Vishwaroopam 2 and Indian 2 in his kitty. Vishwaroopam 2 is a sequel to the 2013 spy-thriller Vishwaroopam and also features actor Andrea Jeremiah in the lead. As far as Indian 2 is concerned, it is a sequel to the classic vigilante drama Indian and will be directed by maverick director S Shankar.
As far as Rajini is concerned, he currently has 2.0 and Kaala in his kitty.
