Veteran Tamil star Kamal Haasan had previously asked him fan clubs to collect money and help him launch his political party. As expected, this requests did yield some positive result and his fan clubs were able to collect a substantial amount of money.
Now, in a surprising move, Haasan has decided to return the money. In a leading magazine, he wrote that as his party has not taken shape yet, he has no right to hold on to the money. However, at the same time, he clarified that he has not given up on his dream of entering politics.
“I am returning the cash people have been sending. It is illegal to keep the money without any infrastructure. The party has to be formed first and we should name the party before collecting funds from the people. This does not mean that I am backtracking. This doesn’t mean I won’t accept money. We need to build a strong foundation so that the movement functions well even after me. It is not a move towards any seat. My wish is that Tamil Nadu should develop first,” he wrote.
Well, this is indeed a big move and it will be worth watching what he does next.
In case you did not know, Haasan is quite an outspoken individual. And, these days, he has been speaking quite boldly about the political system of Tamil Nadu. A while ago, he had confirmed that he would ultimately launch his own party as no existing party can do justice to his ideology. On the work front, he currently has ‘Vishwaroopam 2’ and ‘Saabash Naidu’ in his kitty.
