Kamal Haasan is undoubtedly one of the most outspoken stars in the Tamil film industry today. In the past, the veteran actor has voiced his opinion on a host of burning issues and ruffled quite a few feathers along the way. Now, Haasan has once again taken a strong stand on a relevant issue. He just took to Twiiter and criticised the Tamil Nadu government’s decision to remove the legendary Sivaji Ganesan’s statue from the Marina beach. In his hard-hitting tweet, the 62-year-old said that Sivaji Ganesan is ‘above the government’.
“Sivaji left a strong impression in the hearts of aspiring Tamil actors and fans. Let’s make another statue and protect it forever, my dad Sivaji is above the Government,” he added.
It goes without saying that these are some strong words and may ruffle quite a few feathers.
In case you did not know, the state government was forced to remove the statue from Marina beach and install it at Adyar Mani Mandapam because of a directive issued by the Madaras High Court. The directive was issued as the statue was acting as a hindrance to transport.
On a related note, this is a busy time for Haasan. He is currently busy hosting the Tamil version of ‘Bigg Boss’. Besides this, he also has ‘Vishwaroopam 2’ and ‘Sabaash Naidu’ in his kitty. ‘Vishwaroopam 2’ is a spy-thriller. On the other hand, ‘Sabaash Naidu’ is a spy-comedy and also stars Shruti Haasan in the lead.
So, do you agree with Haasan’s views on the matter? Comments, please!
