Kamal Haasan is currently caught up with his debut TV assignment Bigg Boss in Tamil. The reality show will go on air from June 26th, 2017 and will be over 100 days. Simultaneously, Kamal Haasan is also working on Viswaroopam 2 which will be released soon. The film was stalled for unknown reasons but has now been revived and is currently in the post production stage. While all this is happening, reports are coming in that Kamal Haasan’s yesteryear hit film Aalavandhan will be released again on the big screens.
Apparently, the producer of Aalavandhan, Kalaipuli S Thanu has put together a team and is working on mastering the film for a digital version. The work on the remastering commenced today in Chennai. Producer Kalaipuli S Thanu is in talks with many distributors and plans to release the film across the state in more than 500 screens.
Aalavandhan was released in 2002 with Kamal Haasan playing dual roles in the film, one a a cop and another one with negative shades. The story was written by Kamal Haasan himself and was directed by Suresh Krissna. The film had Bollywood actress Raveen Tandon paired opposite Kamal Haasan as the lead role. Interestingly, Aalavandhan was made on a budget of INR 20 crores 15 years ago which equals to approximately INR 400 crores as of today. This makes Aalavandhan one of the most expensive film if it were made today along with Baahubali and Robo 2.0. Also, Aalavandhan won the National Award back then in the category of Best Special Effects.
