Rajinikanth fans across the country have been eagerly awaiting for the release of Kaala, which is all set to hit the screens on June 7. It is one of the most anticipated films of the season. However, the film has caught up into controversy, courtesy Rajinikanth’s statement on Cauvery issue. Miffed with Tamil megastar Rajinikanth’s comments on the Cauvery issue, the Karnataka Film Chambers of Commerce decided that Rajinikanth’s film Kaala will be banned in Karnataka.
Rajinikanth’s alleged statement that whichever government comes to power in Karnataka should implement the Supreme Court order about Cauvery water sharing and this has created chaos for his film in Karnataka.
KFCC president Sa Ra Govindu told PTI that Rajinikanth’s film will not be screened in Karnataka. “A decision has been taken that Rajinikanth’s movie will neither be distributed nor screened anywhere in Karnataka,” said Govindu. He admitted that the actor’s statement on Cauvery issue made them take such a decision.
The KFCC president further added that the bad will continue whatsoever. “The ban will remain because neither will he apologise for his statement nor are we going to pardon him,” said Govindu.
In the other news report, it is being said that the distributors are in talks with KFCC and the decision on the same is expected by Thursday.
Kaala is said to be a documented story of a don living in the slums of Dharavi. He will play a slum lord turned gangster in the film and is reportedly based on the life of Haji Mastan. The film will also have political overtones.
Produced by Dhanush and directed by P. Ranjith, Kaala stars Rajinikanth, Nana Patekar and Huma Qureshi in the lead. The movie is all set to release on 7th June 2018. Kaala will be releasing in three languages- Hindi, Telugu and Tamil.
