In an unfortunate development, 27-year-old Jeevan—who was the secretary of the Tiruvannamalai Karthi fans association—passed away yesterday after being involved in an accident. And, as expected this left his well-wishers heartbroken. On a coming to know of the tragedy, Karthi offered his condolences to the bereaved family and also attended his funeral. At the funeral, he seemed quite sad and ultimately broke down with grief. This is a sad situation and we would like to offer our condolences to the family of the deceased.
As it so happens, Jeevan had tied the knot nearly three months ago and began a new chapter in life. Karthi had attended the wedding and blessed the then newly-weds on their special day.
On the work front, this has been an eventful year for Karthi, In April, he received rave reviews for his performance in the romantic-drama ‘Kaatru Veliyidai’. A Mani Ratnam directorial, it also featured Bollywood star Aditi Rao Hydari in the lead and received a mixed response from fans upon release.
Talking about working with Mani, he had said that the director gave him tremendous freedeom as a performer and allowed him to experiment a lot,
“For me, working on the sets with Mani Ratnam is so familiar. It is the place where I grew up so I am not nervous here. I have never experienced this thing about discussing what I learnt on the sets with any of my directors before. Mani sir gave me the scope for it and to discuss the nuances of a performance, or a particular scene and that I got only on this film. Discussion on the sets was one of the greatest things about working in this film. Even when he had inputs for a scene, he would tell us to incorporate it only if we believed in it and it worked for us. That kind of a freedom was new for me,” he had told a leading daily.
Thereafter Karthi tasted commercial success with the hard-hitting ‘Theeran Adhigaram Ondru’ and gave strong proof of his abilities as an actor. In the H Vinoth directed crime-drama, he essayed the role of a cop and delivered a relatable performance. The film also featured Rakul Preet in the lead and emerged as Karthi’s biggest hit yet. Talking about the film, he had said that they shot in difficult conditions and still managed to get the right results.
“It was so bad that a crane toppled over and drone cameras got damaged. Some sand particles were sharp, and almost drew blood when they came in contact with my skin. The locals told us to cover ourselves with blankets and simply wait till it subsided,” he had said about being stuck in a sandstorm during the shoot.
Upon release, the film had also received the proverbial thumbs up from Suriya who had said that it did a wonderful job of highlighting the challenges faced by cops.
“A raw n bold Hidden truth coming alive in a film with such an impactful and realistic approach! Kudos to Jangid sir n 300 team members for the 11 plus years of selfless service in this case. Thank you Vinod, Karthi n Dream warrior pictures for picking this story to showcase yet another brave side of the Police,” Suriya had added.
At present, he has a film with Pandiraj in his kitty. In it, he will be seen opposite fast-rising star Sayyeshaa. Recently, the ‘Akhil’ star had said that she will be seen in a de-glam look in this one. She had also said that Karthi is a perfectionist and ensures that everything falls into place.
“Both Junga and the film with Karthi are extremely different. Junga has me in a very westernised and glamourous role whereas other one sees me in a de-glam avatar. That is something I haven’t done before. All of my roles earlier have seen me in western looks but this film is very Indian, which is who I am at heart. I am very simple and homely. Pandiaraj sir’s film has given the chance to show that I can be both,” she had added.
