End of an era! In a shocking news, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) chief M Karunanidhi passed away yesterday at 6:10 PM, in Chennai. The great personality passes away at the age of 94 after battling illness for a long time. His death news has left thousands of people across Tamil Nadu in a shock and are grieving for their leader. He was admitted to Kauvery Hospital in Chennai on July 27, following a drop in his blood pressure. He was extremely in a critical condition for the past few days.

A press release was issued which read as, “With deep anguish, we announce the demise of our beloved Kalaignar Dr. M Karunanidhi on 07.08.2018 at 06 10 PM. Despite the best possible efforts by our team of doctors and nurses to resuscitate him, he failed to respond.” The statement further read, “We profoundly mourn the loss of one of the tallest leaders of India and we share the grief of family members and fellow Tamilians worldwide.”

The mortal remains of the DMK leader have been taken to the Rajaji Hall where people will be allowed to pay their last respects. Several politicians are expected to be in Chennai today, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress president Rahul Gandhi. Already, a huge crowd of late DMK leader’s followers have gathered at Chennai’s Rajaji Hall. They are seen raising slogans of ‘Long Live Kalaignar’ and ‘Need Marina! Need Marina!’

South Indian celebrities, Rajinikanth, Dhanush, Thala Ajith, Rana Daggubati, Sivakarthikeyan, actor Suriya and many others have arrived to pay their last respects to their great leader.

Meanwhile, celebs have been tweeting about Karunanidhi’s sad demise. Allu Arjun, AR Rahman, Samantha, Rajinikanth, and many others took to Twitter to share their last words for Kalaignar.
