On Sunday, movie buffs woke up to the terrible news of veteran actor Sridevi’s unfortunate death. Initial reports stated that she had died because of a cardiac arrest. However, the latest statement that she died because of drowning. Regardless of the cause of her death, this is a big loss for the film world. Sridevi was always a bit guarded about her life and rarely spoke much about it in public.
However, in a rare interview given to Stardust, the diva spoke about her early life and said that she was keen on entering politics. As it so happens, her uncle was an MLA and her dad wanted her to follow in his footsteps. But, as Sridevi was not too firm about taking the plunge, she ultimately gave the political world a miss.
“I do everything that my parents want me to. After entering the politics, I will seek advice from my father. After all, every politician has an adviser,” she had said.
In case you did not know, Sridevi is regarded as the first female superstar of her generation. She began her career as a child actor and ultimately became a synonym for success. Her most notable South films include Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari, Moondram Pirai, and SP Parasuram to name a few. She also ruled Bollywood and starred in memorable hits such as Mr. India, Judaai and Chandini to name a few.
The 2015 release Puli proved to be the last Tamil film of her truly illustrious career. It featured her in the role of a queen and underperformed at the box office. She was last seen in the 2017 release MOM and received praise for her work. The film also had Akshaye Khanna in the lead and did decent business at the box office.
Sridevi truly will be missed!
