Did you know that Sridevi was once paid more than Rajinikanth for the same movie?

There’s no denying that legendary actor Sridevi’s untimely death has left a void in the film world that may never be filed again. At the same time, it has brought back numerous memories of Indian cinema’s ‘Last Empress’ and left her well-wishers teary-eyed. Sridevi started her career at a young age as a child artist. In 1976, at the age of 13, she played her first adult/lead role in Moonru Mudichu and added a new dimension to her career. In it, she acted alongside Rajinikanth. And, believe it or not, she was paid more than ‘Thalaiva’ himself. Apparently, Rajini was paid Rs 2000 while Sri earned Rs 5000 for the film.

Talking about, working Rajini and her rapport with him, Sridevi had once said that—during his early years, the superstar just wanted to earn as much as his more established Kamal Haasan.

“Rajini was very close to my mother. He was like a son. When we were all talking, Rajini would ask how he can become a big star like Kamal. My mother would say, you will definitely become like that. Rajini wanted to earn Rs.30,000,” she had added.

Sridevi had also said that Rajini is a kind-hearted person who does not like to see anyone in pain or discomfort.

“He is very humble, very good at heart. He always wants to help others. He doesn’t like it when someone is facing some difficulty. He wants everyone to be happy. He is a good man and very talented,” she had said.

Given the strong friendship between the two, it was no surprise that Rajini was one of the first stars to offer condolences to her family after her demise.

“This is a big, big, big loss to Indian film industry. I have very few close friends. Among them, Sridevi was one. I have lost her. My heart is very heavy,” he had said.

So, which is your favourite Rajinikanth-Sridevi starrer? Comments, please!
