Madras HC clears the release of Kamal Haasan’s Vishwaroopam 2

Kamal Haasan’s Vishwaroopam 2 has been a talk of the town since a very long time. The makers of the film left no stone unturned for the promotions and amid everything, the film had landed into trouble. As earlier we reported, Pyramid Saimira Productions International filed a suit against Haasan for recovery of Rs 5.44 crore. Justice C V Karthikeyan issued a notice to the actor and his production house Rajkamal Films International to file a reply. Now according to the latest update on the complaint filed against the film’s release, the Madras High Court on Thursday cleared the decks for the worldwide release of the Kamal Haasan starrer Vishwaroopam 2. The film that has released today will witness a smooth run at the Box Office.

Justice M. Sundar on Thursday, dismissed the case after Aascar Films filed an affidavit through its counsel S. Vijayan, claiming to have purchased theatrical and negative rights of Vishwaroopam 2 from Rajkamal Films International at a cost of Rs 40.75 crore. They made a point that any interim order by the court would affect it badly.

On the other hand, advocate K.S.V. Prasad, on behalf of Kamal Haasan, brought it to the notice of the court that the Pyramid Saimira had agreed to pay his client Rs 15 crore for acting in the lead role in Marmayogi and Rs 1 crore for directing it. The entire remuneration for the same was paid in advance.

The production company had filed the plea saying the money was paid to Haasan’s production house for producing a film titled Marmayogi in Tamil and Hindi. They had reportedly signed a memorandum of understanding with Rajkamal Films on April 2, 2008, for the production of Marmayogi on a budget of Rs 100 crore.

In 2016, the amount due was Rs 5.44 crore but now the amount had increased to Rs 7.75 crore with interest.

Talking about the film, Vishwaroopam 2 also stars Andrea Jeremiah, Pooja Kumar, and Shekhar Kapoor, the film has music by Ghibran. The first trailer of the film was released recently and it received an immense response. Vishwaroopam 2 has hit the screens in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu on August 10, 2018.
