It’s all happening in the South Indian film industry. It was first Mahesh Babu’s SPYder that got postponed to August from June and now it is Rajinikanth’s 2.0. The production house made an official announcement on Friday that the release has been shifted to January of 2018. This comes after Allu Arjun’s Duvvada Jagannadham gets a release date and Natural Star Nani’s Ninnu Kori also confirms its release date.
The announcement about the change of 2.0’s release was made by Raju Mahalingam, the creative head at the production house of the film – Lyca Productions. The statement said – “Director Shankar’s most ambitious project, Robot 2.0, now shifts to 25 Jan 2018. Film moves from earlier Diwali release to achieve world class standards in VFX.” The release was said to be October 18th 2017 initially but the monumental project will hit the screens in January 2017.
After the news broke out, rumours started doing rounds that this might be happening because Rajinikanth might enter politics and he wants to use the fanfare of the movie for his entry. These tit-bits started spreading after posters were found across a town in Tamil Nadu that Rajinikanth will be entering politics in 2018. The Super Star had made it very clear in the past that he does not intend to become a politician and neither will he support any political party.
Directed by creative master Shankar, 2.0 is the sequel for Rajinikanth’s Robo and features Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar as the antagonist. Amy Jackson is playing the female lead role in the film.
