Superstar Rajinikanth’s much-awaited film Kaala, which is releasing in various language is all set to hit screens on June 7. Kaala is one of the anticipated films of the year for quite a few reasons. One of them is because fans will get to see their favourite superstar back on the big screen after two years. Well, with the film just two days away from the release, there’s a lot going around that is keeping Kaala in the limelight. According to reports, a Mumbai-based journalist has threatened to file a defamation suit against Rajinikanth over his film Kaala.
Jawahar Nadar has sent a legal notice to the actor through his lawyer accusing the superstar of portraying his father, late S Thiraviam Nadar in a bad light to garner support among the affluent and upper-caste sections of society. He has demanded an apology over the same in 36 hours and if the actor fails to do so, he has threatened to file a defamation suit seeking Rs. 101 crore for damaging the name of his father.
Jawahar Nadar ‘s father was a jaggery and sugar merchant from Tamil Nadu’s Tuticorin district. He had moved to Dharavi in Mumbai in 1957 and never got involved in illegal activities, says Mr Nadar.
Well, Kaala caught up in controversy a few days ago over Rajinikanth’s statement on Cauvery water issue. Karnataka Film Chambers of Commerce decided that Rajinikanth’s film Kaala will be banned in Karnataka. Rajinikanth in his statement said that whichever government comes to power in Karnataka should implement the Supreme Court order about Cauvery water sharing and this is the reason why the KFCC has decided to ban the film there.
Kaala is said to be a documented story of a don living in the slums of Dharavi. He will play a slum lord turned gangster in the film and is reportedly based on the life of Haji Mastan. The film will also have political overtones.
