During a recent chat with a leading website, actress Nithya Menen opened up about her latest release ‘Mersal’—which hit screens today—and said that her character forms the ‘emotional pillar’ of the film. She went on to add that director Atlee has done complete justice to her character.
“My character is the emotional pillar in the film which sets the tone for the rest of the events. What I really liked is how Atlee treated the two principal characters in the flashback episode, which is quite different when you think of a big budget commercial film,” added the actress.
Interestingly, Nithya will be seen in the flashback portion of ‘Mersal’ which is set in the 1970’s. And, as it so happens, she is no stranger to period settings. Explaining her love for the ‘period stuff’, she said that she is fond of recreating retro looks.
“I really love doing the whole period drama stuff. Not just Mersal, some of my previous films like 24, Rudhramadevi involved quite a lot of dressing up to look the part in that time frame,” she added.
