Popular playback singer Vaikom Vijayalakshmi married Anoop at Vaikom Mahadeva Temple on October 22. The visually impaired singer tied the knot at the Mahadeva Temple in Vaikom with Anoop, who is a mimicry artiste and an interior designer. Several prominent personalities from the film and music industry attended the marriage to bless the newlywed couple. Among others who attended Yesudas along with wife Prabha and son Vijay, music directors, M Jayachandran and Ouseppachan, senior CPI leader Pannian Raveendran.

Vaikom Vijayalakshmi in the first 10 years, had performed at more than 400 stages in the major cities of India. She began her career as a playback singer began with the popular song Kaatte Kaatte from Celluloid. She won a special mention for the song in the Kerala State Film awards in 2012. She has also sung Tamil songs, En Jeevan from Theri, 36 Vayathinile and the yet to release Kanaa among others.

Vaikom Vijayalakshmi was earlier engaged to Bahrain based technician Santhosh in December 2016, but she suddenly called off her wedding, citing that her fiance insulted her for her blindness and requested her to stop stage shows. She was praised for her decision in social media.
