Actor Kamal Haasan had recently tweeted about the herbal medicine ‘nilavembu kudineer’ which, is to prevent dengue fever, and asked his fan associations not to distribute the medicine till the research work on the medicine is not complete. This seems to have irked a few people and now a police complaint has been filed against the actor in Chennai. G. Devarajan, who is a social activist, has approached the police officials and filed a police complaint against Kamal Haasan for his comments about distributing the ‘nilavembu kudineer’.
The complainant states that Kamal has been misleading everyone about ‘nilavembu kudineer’ even though it is promoted by the state government. Kamal also received flak from few government officials for his comments and few political leaders have lashed out at the actor. Kamal Haasan has, however, later clarified about his comments and said his tweet has been misconstrued. The actor said that he was only against the medicine being distributed without guidance of trained government professionals since it may be harmful.
“Misconstruing my request for our NGOs to not distribute Nilavembu Kashayam, some people spreading false news of me opposing it is not fair by any means. I tweeted to warn the over enthusiasts to prevent them from giving an improper dosage of the controversial medicine. I did not wish my organizers distributing medicines without a physician’s guidance or direction. The arrangement made by the government is with the help of medicinal practitioners. I am only criticizing the improper distribution of medicine to everyone without this arrangement or the guidance,” said Kamal Haasan.
