On December 31, 2017, Tamil superstar Rajinikanth finally confirmed his entry into the world of politics and said that he would soon be forming a political party of his own. While making the announcement, he had also made it clear that his party would field candidates on all 234 seats during the next Tamil Nadu assembly elections and add a new dimension to the political situation.
“I will be beginning my own party and will be contesting in the upcoming State Elections. We will independently stand in all 234 Constituencies in Tamil Nadu. Before the state election, we will discuss what we can do, and what we cannot do. If we don’t do what we promise, We will resign within three years,” he had added.
Now, it seems that Rajini may soon quit films to concentrate on politics. According to a popular website, after the release of ‘Kaala’, Rajini will collaborate with director Pa Ranjith for a political-drama that is likely to be the last film of his illustrious career. Talking about this, a source that the new film will highlight Thalaivaa’s ideologies and serve as a perfect send-off for him.
“Rajini sir and Ranjith have held discussions for a new project, a political flick which will be the perfect send off to his acting career. Kaala was supposed to be Rajini sir’s last film but he felt he needed to do something that leaves a lasting impact on the audience. It was Ranjith’s idea to do a political film that’ll be packed with ideologies Rajini sir swears by. The regular shooting is expected to commence from this year-end,” added the source.
Interestingly, the casting process for this one will take a while as Rajini-Ranjith are keen to see whether fans like ‘Kaala’ and make it a hit.
In case you did not know, ‘Kaala’ is touted to be a crime-drama and will feature Rajinikanth in the role of a gangster. It will hit screens after the star’s magnum opus ‘2.0’ which is slated to release this April.
