Rumours of producer Dil Raju backing out of Kamal Haasan’s ‘Indian 2’ are rumours, clarifies production house

Couple of months ago, fans of Kamal Haasan and maverick filmmaker Shankar Shanmugham were in for a treat when the filmmaker had confirmed that the two are coming together for the sequel of ‘Indian’ and will soon begin works on it. Shankar confirmed the news on Tamil Bigg Boss show which was being hosted by Kamal Haasan. What surprised every one was producer Dil Raju accompanying director Shankar on the show and confirming that he will be bankrolling ‘Indian 2’. Much to the joy of Telugu movie-buffs, Dil Raju had confirmed that he would be producing the Telugu and Tamil versions while it would be dubbed in Hindi. However, nothing much was heard about the sequel and there were many speculations that the project has been taken over by Lyca Productions and Dil Raju has opted out of it. Raju had, however, not confirmed this development leading to a lot of rumours. And now, looks like the A-list producer of Tollywood has confirmed that he will no longer be part of ‘Indian 2’.

Speaking at the press meet about his upcoming Telugu production MCA, Raju had said that he was advised by many of his colleagues and friends not to risk by producing the project. “Since I like Shankar a lot, I wanted to produce the film with him. However, ever since I ventured out, my friends and well-wishers were not favourably inclined. They advised me against it,” Dil Raju said interacting with media ahead of his release MCA. It is, however, clear not yet as to who would be bankrolling the much awaited for sequel. Director Shankar is currently working on his prestigious project 2.0 starring Rajinikanth in the lead role which is being directed by Lyca Productions. And buzz in the South Indian film industries is that Lyca Productions may well take over the production of ‘Indian 2’ since they already are producing a Shankar’s directorial.
